The walking club with Chuck Carroll is happening!

Hi Reader,

The walking club is happening! I want to lead with that because your response to the last newsletter gave me so much to look forward to. There are still a few things to sort out with my health, but there is plenty of good happening around us, too. And this week, some of that good involves Martha Stewart. Yes, that Martha Stewart!

What's Inside

  • The walking club is a go!
  • A new doctor and next steps
  • Martha Stewart wants Carleigh’s book
  • Sending Chef AJ some love
  • Dr. Greger before anyone else
  • Last call for West Virginia
  • Finding stars in the darkness

Let's Go For A Walk

Thank you to everyone who responded to the last newsletter and said you wanted to join our walking club. Message received loud and clear!

We WILL do this. We’ll roll out the details in the coming months, and we’re going to do it up right!

Walking has been such an important part of my life, and I’m excited to share that with you. Having a reason to get moving is great. Having people to keep you company and cheer you on? Even better.

New Doctor, Next Steps

I met my new primary care physician this week. She seems nice!

Although I have to admit, I may have glossed over quite a bit of the past three and a half years. Not because it wasn’t important. I’m just so tired of telling the story.

How do you fit all of that into one appointment anyway? At this point, my medical history could use a table of contents.

But we have a next step. I have an abdominal CT coming up to get a better look at the hernias. Once those results are in, we can look at scheduling surgery and getting on with therapy for the remaining symptoms.

There is still work to do. I’m ready to get on with it.

Martha Stewart Meets PlantYou

Imagine meeting Martha Stewart and having HER ask YOU for a cookbook.

That happened to my friend Carleigh Bodrug!

During our conversation on The Exam Room, Carleigh told me about meeting Martha, who asked for one of her books because her granddaughter is now eating a plant-based diet.

How cool is that?!

I love hearing stories like this. Somewhere in Martha Stewart’s family, someone is figuring out what to put on their plate, just like so many of us. And Carleigh gets to help make that a little easier.

Her new book, PlantYou Quickies, is available now and is all about making plant-based cooking work when time and energy are in short supply. That sounds like my kind of cookbook!

Sending Love To Chef AJ

Please join me in sending some good thoughts to my friend Chef AJ after her latest hospital stay.

She has shared updates on Facebook, and I wanted to send a little extra love her way. Hospital days can feel awfully long. Knowing that people are thinking about you can mean so much.

Sending good vibes, my friend! We’re rooting for you and wishing you easier days ahead.

Dr. Greger Before Anyone Else

Mark October 16 on your calendar!

My interview with Dr. Michael Greger about his new book, How Not To Hurt, will be available exclusively to Exam Room VIPs. You’ll get to watch or listen two weeks before we release it to everyone else.

You can pre-order your copy of the book now!

We’ll be talking about food and pain relief. And if you know Dr. Greger, you know he comes prepared with plenty of research!

VIP membership is FREE. You’ll also get our newsletter and access to special events and early interviews.

Finding Light In Darkness

I love this quote because it reminds me there is always a glimmer of light, no matter how dark your days feel.

Sometimes the stars can be hard to see, but they are always there, lighting the way until you’re ready to take that next step.

Never give up,
